The legend of Tony Brophy
The cold calling machine out of his mom’s basement in Dublin, Ireland (I think) has made nearly 10,000 cold calls in the past couple weeks as a fractional SDR for a couple different companies it seems.
I don’t know his story completely, but he’s been sharing his sales journey with LinkedIn, and he’s amassed thousands of followers along the way.
There’s something captivating about Tony.
He’s grown his LinkedIn following quicker than almost anyone I’ve seen, and part of me thinks “wow, why hasn’t this type of traction happened for me?”
Then I realize it’s because Tony is willing to do things I’m not (nor would others). THAT is why people are so intrigued.
We’re talking hundreds upon hundreds of cold calls each day. One post saying he even reached the thousands.

His conversion rate is low - given what I’ve seen from Tony, it’s not due to lack of skill, and his takeaways show a pretty precise approach to correction and improvement.
Maybe he’s got bad data, and maybe the Americans don’t like the Irish accent - ridiculous!
He is legit, and he’s a workhorse, and I’d want him on my team, and people are obsessed with his numbers and his daily takeaways. I’m certainly tuned in to whatever becomes of him and his career. Cheers to Tony!

The Perfect Handicap
I’m getting to the point where I’d feel comfortable going out to golf with clients, prospects, etc.
Friday, shot a 92, Saturday, a 98 (brutal 52 on the back 9).
But here’s the thing, I’m in the sweet spot with my golf game where I don’t expect to play well, yet I’m hitting more good shots than bad.
I’m bogeying most holes, with the occasional par and the occasional double boge (of course a triple+ will creep in here and there).

LET’S GO GOLFING
This is why I think 20 is the perfect handicap for a causal golfer who wants to keep their cool about them.
While I’m expecting Bogey every time, I know if I ever double, I’m chillin, because I know I’m typically allotted 2 double to keep that 20 HC.
The pars are special, the birdies are life changing, and the doubles just don’t hurt all that bad.
I think the next great threshold is unfortunately a 10 HC (once you get to single digi, anything over 10 feels like a failure).
I find myself right now far more pleased with good shots than I find myself frustrated with bad shots. If I get any better (which obviously I hope to), I think golf will become an increasingly rewarding, yet increasingly frustrating game.
Funny how that works.
MAJOR win of the week
My wife has been asking me to put up our Ring Camera for the past year.
One of those things that I keep saying “ah… yeah I really need to do that.”
You can imagine how well my wife receives that response.
Wife doesn’t feel as safe in our home because I’m too lazy to download an app and screw a couple screws into the wall. Like what??
So I did it - I also got her Trader Joe’s dark chocolate peanut butter cups and flowers when I picked her up from the airport.
Yes, I was husband of the week LAST week.
They didn’t tell me it STARTS OVER every single week??? Kidding, doing my best.

Little update on the brand
While continuing my sales efforts with Wildsparq, I’ve been dishing out some LI posts and even threw a tiktok out there.
I don’t want fame by any means, but I like the idea of creating content that people enjoy, so that one day I may monetize it.
dreaming, maybe. Fun to think about though.
Imagine writing for fun and having enough people enjoy your writing that YOU yourself become a viable marketing channel for other orgs and brands.
Whoa - or is it woah. I literally have no idea.
Anyway, I started posting on linkedin like 5 months ago and am closing in on 2,000 followers which is fun.

It is my platform of choice for 2 reasons:
doesn’t feel like a complete time trap
it’s due for interrupt - LOTTA sales tips and tricks and self-help and leadership which is awesome…
But I personally believe I bring something different to it. I feel 100% myself in writing and I think it’s refreshing to those who scroll LinkedIn and see the same thing over and over.
Idk, that’s all on that - keep you updated on the writing and the brand.
Baby playlist of the week
